A/Prof Yue Ma hosted a visit by Prof Jianyu Chen of SIO (Second Institute of Oceanography), China, to SARCCM on 10 December 2018. Prof. Chen and A/Prof Ma discussed potential collaboration between SARCCM and SIO in the areas of time series analysis in CHL, SST, and TSM, as well as different remote sensing impact and response in measuring coastal processes. 

Jianyu Chen is a professor of State Key Laboratory of Satellite Ocean Environment Dynamics (SOED), Second Institute of Oceanography (SIO). His research interests include satellite ocean color, object-based image analysis, remote sensing of coastal environment and GIS. He received the master’s degree and the Ph. D degree from the School of Earth Sciences, Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, in 1998 and in 2004. He completed post-doctor research in Shanghai institute of technical physics, Chinese Academy of sciences in 2006. He has been a Visiting Scholar in the Department of Geoinformatics at the University of Salzburg, Austria, Department of Geography and Environmental Management at the University of Waterloo, Canada, and in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Cornell University, USA.
