A/Prof. Xiao Hua Wang, Mr Donghui Jiang, Mr Dehai Song and Ms Li Li gave oral presentations in the Third International Workshop on Modelling the Ocean (IWMO) which was hosted by the First Institute of Oceanography (FIO) in Qingdao, China, during 6-9 June 2011. The IWMO-2011 is open to the international ocean modelling community.

A/Prof. Wang chaired the bottom boundary layer and sediment dynamics of muddy coasts and estuaries session and Li Li was the winner for outstanding young scientists award (3rd prize). After the workshop, Hua delivered the training course on sediment modelling to over 70 international trainees for the UNESCO Regional Training and Research Consortium on Ocean Dynamics and Climate (ODC Centre). In the training course, the students learned how to model ocean dynamics from different perspective and using different methods.
